I no longer remember exactly on what day I learned this. But at the time, I remember thinking that this English expression "Be cut from the same cloth" is proper of its own language because the expressions in their different languages gain a certain grace once translated, because it is not exactly a translation to the letter that can be made. It is to find an expression with the same meaning in another language so as we don't lose the meaning of those words. We could say "We are mass of the same cloud" and, we could also say that we were cakes in the same form. I like to think we're made of the same stuff. Especially now that I realize that there are so many different materials for the human genesis.

Mas na altura, lembro-me de ter pensado que esta expressão inglesa "Be cut from the same cloth" é própria desta linguagem porque as expressões nos seus idiomas diferentes ganham graça traduzidas, porque não é exatamente uma tradução à letra que pode fazer-se. É encontrar uma expressão com o mesmo sigificado dentro de um outro idioma para não se perder o sentido daquelas palavras. Podiamos dizer "Somos massa da mesma nuvem" e, também se podia dizer que eramos bolos da mesma forma. Eu gosto de pensar que somos feitos da mesma matéria. Principalmente agora que percebo que existem tantas matérias diferentes.
